People decide to pursue mental health treament for a variety of reasons. Some of the most common issues we treat are:
Our free initial telephone consultation allows prospective clients to get a glimpse of a psychotherapy session before making a commitment. At the appointed time, your consultation therapist will call you at the phone number you provide. You will be given an opportunity to ask any questions you have about the psychotherapeutic process. Your consultation therapist will discuss your situation with you, and the two of you will explore whether psychotherapy is likely to assist you in meeting your goals.
We ask that you come to the office 15 minutes prior to your scheduled appointment time to complete paperwork. Your therapist will then meet with you for 50 minutes (for a standard session) or 100 minutes (for an extended session). During this time, you can discuss your concerns, and your therapist will develop an individualized treatment plan to assist you in dealing appropriately with your concerns.
Due to your therapist’s schedule, he/she will often not be immediately available by telephone. However, you can always leave a voicemail or email message, or contact reception staff at (954) 665-4115 to reschedule or schedule an appointment with your therapist. You can also schedule a telephone consultation with your therapist. The charge for telephone consultations is $25/quarter hour.
In family therapy, the family unit is the focus of intervention. The ‘family’ may include a married couple with or without children; a single parent with children; close friends, or any relationship that you would like to see improved.
Therapy is a process of identifying what is not working in your life, and creating a plan to make it work better. Sometimes, that means gaining a greater understanding of why or how things stopped working. Very often, therapy means making changes in your ways of thinking and behaving. A good therapist will work hard to ensure that you develop the tools to make positive change happen. However, whether or not you choose to change is entirely up to you. Whatever you decide, your therapist will be with you and support you at each step of the process.
Your therapist is ready and willing to listen to whatever you have to share. You can be assured that your therapist will not judge you. Instead, he or she will listen carefully to the problem as you see it, talk through possible solutions, and work with you to find a solution to meet your goals. Therapy is all about you, and the role of the therapist is, in part, to be your advocate. While your therapist may help you think through the consequences of your actions, and whether those consequences are in line with your goals, he or she will not judge you. And, it's unlikely that you will share anything that the therapist has not heard by another client before you. Other people have struggled with the same issues that challenge you ... you are not alone. | |||||||||||||||||||
